So What's DT Quest?

Deaf Teen Quest is a ministry to Deaf and Hard of Hearing teens founded by Bob & Kathy Ayres of Louisville, Kentucky in 2000. BGYFC is a sponsor of DTQuest and has been coordinating the ministry to students at Kentucky School for the Deaf for the past three years. Our need for volunteers in this area is great and we welcome those who "love Jesus and like Deaf teens" to be a part of it! DTQuest has also outreached to the Lexington and surrounding areas by providing monthly activities for mainstreamed deaf teen students, and we will be starting G.R.O.W. groups this fall for those students interested in finding answers to some of Life's simple and tough questions!  Hope you will join us as we build relationships and share Jesus' love through our lives! Life Lesson for the month of September
"Who am I?"

In a world where our identity is wrapped up in sports, in work, in school, in the types of clothes we wear, or in our friends, it is sometimes hard to really understand WHO WE ARE and why we are here on this planet.  In a recent monologue, performed by one of our KSD students (Drew), he addressed this question that so many teens and even adults ask.  Tired of being told who to trust, what to believe, and where to go for help, many of us don't know where to find the answers, and we don't know who or what we can trust to show us the right way to go.

The truth is, we CAN know who we are and why we are here on Earth!  God tells us in the Bible that we are people made in His image. That means even though we sin (not being perfect), God made us with talents, abilities, desires, emotions, and personality to remind us of Him, our Creator.  We are also people who require a relationship with our Creator in order to fulfill the reason for which we were made.  So, why are we here? The Bible tells us many reasons why we are here. For example, the Bible tells us that "before the world was created, God had Christ choose US to live with him and to be his holy and innocent and loving people." (Eph 1:4).

If you really want to know where to turn and who to trust, Your Creator is the only one who knows you best and knows what plans He has for you.  Through a personal relationship with Jesus, you can have a better understanding and know the right path to take. Just open your Bible and let God teach you more about yourself and about Him!
