Dirk got involved in YFC in high school in Lansing Michigan. With the encouragement of men like Dick Epps and Trent Bushnell and Tom Rust he helped in Campus Life. He went to Taylor University and helped Bill Shewan in the Marion program during those years. He balked when asked to go full-time because he had to raise support. So he was a youth pastor for 3 years, then went to Wheaton College for graduate school. After Wheaton he worked at a church camp for a year, but Dick Wynn and Dick Epps finally convinced him to go to Port Huron to direct YFC. After 25 years there he was asked to become an Associate Field Director in the Great Lakes Region, and that’s where he is today.
