After Ted Engstrom became president in 1957, he asked Evon Hedley to become his Executive Director. Evon soon realized that someone needed to get out and raise the money to keep YFC going. He met the son of Mr. Bell of the company that later became the PEW Foundation. That soon brought in the first 5 figure check. Mr. Bell introduced him to the president of the Kresge Foundation, and he jumped on-board. Then so did the Lilly Foundation as more and more companies began to trust YFC.
