Jim tells how as a high school sophomore he was invited to a YFC Bible Club in Santa Barbara, California in 1955. He really liked it and met the director of Santa Barbara YFC, Fred Sanborn, and also Larry Ballenger. At a Christmas conference in Pismo Beach Fred led Jim to the Lord and discipled him over the next three years. In 1958 Jim moved to Los Angeles to start working with clubs in that area. He helped some students start a club in their Santa Fe Springs High School. The club started with about 25 kids, but by the end of that year there were hundreds of kids attending, and many of them had accepted Christ.)
