In 1977 Ron and Ruth Berger were called to pioneer YFC in Anchorage (and later, Juneau), Alaska. Pastor Keith Lauwers became the Executive Director of Anchorage YFC and Ron was the Director of Ministries. He tells how hundreds of kids from five high schools came out for their Burger Bashes and later heard the Gospel in their individual clubs. They thought up creative and innovative things such as “Outhouse Races,” Mud Bowls and “Campus Life on Wheels.” They took bike trips to Hawaii, the Canadian Rockies and even Europe. They became the largest bike trip organization in the U.S. at the time. Ron concludes by saying it was all because they loved kids and wanted them to find Jesus.
