In 1993-94 Art Deyo, Bill LeTourneau and Tom Rust went to India to assist National Director, Prabha George and his staff to implement Project Ragpicker, which still goes on today. In Madras, India (now called Chennai) there were about 5000 boys ages 5 to 20 who spent their time roaming the streets picking up trash and selling it at the end of the day for 75c to $1.00. These boys actually lived and slept on the streets. Bill narrates this 7 minute video showing Ragpickers and the burden to build a live-in facility for up to 35 boys. Art raised the money to build a two story facility, and it now takes these boys off the street, introduces them to Jesus, schools them and trains them in a job skill.
