Beeze’s Life Changing Summer

It is hard to believe that this summer will be over for me in 6 days. I can remember the first time I met the girls for the first time, I was SO nervous! We bonded right away, and got along very well. We got to experience so many fun things together this summer.  The highlight was hiking our first 14,000 ft mountain together and going to our first camp of the summer together! I will never forget how hot and sweaty we all were at Geneva!

After Geneva, it got crazy busy, we were all preparing for different camps and going different places. Marjorie and I went to NorthBay high school camp in Maryland. NorthBay reminded me of the camp I went to the summer I gave my life to Christ, so it was awesome to be on the other side of it all. It was a HUGE camp so it was fun to work with Marjorie and all the other LST. I met so many amazing people there, it was super hard for me to say goodbye to them all.

After camp was over, I got to visit my Aunt Janice who lives in Bowie, MD. Janice is my inspiration for the majority of things I do in my life, so it was amazing to spend time alone with her.  We got to spend some time in D.C., Georgetown, we went to The Addams Family musical at the Kennedy Center and numerous other activities. What an awesome experience that I got!

After I visited my Aunt, I went back to Denver for just a little while, and prepared for Sunstream, where I just recently wrapped up a week of camp. Sunstream is in Iowa with lots of corn fields, so it felt like home! It was an extra special week of camp for me, because my Campus Life leaders from high school were the program team and a lot of my friends and some of my campus life students were on work crew! It was fun to watch them get into camp and serve other people.  Jennie Hession got to be camp co-director, and I had met her previously at Geneva, so it was super awesome to work under her! She is such an amazing woman and an inspiration to many people! I was the only camp intern there, so there was a lot for me to do, but Hession made me feel calm and better about everything!

Looking back at this summer, I cannot believe how fast it has gone. This summer I have met some of the most amazing people. I have learned a lot from them, learned what kind of leader I want to be, and how to be a better follower of Jesus. I watched God change hundreds of kids’ lives. I have heard so many kids scream out “Yes!” to Jesus for the first time. What an amazing thing that was! I have seen God change the hearts of the staff, and the people working behind the scene, including mine.

While I am so sad that this amazing experience is over, I am also overwhelmed with joy. I am filled with joy because this has been the most amazing, life changing experience I have ever been through. I am so thankful for this opportunity that I was given and so thankful for everyone who taught me along the way. I will never forget how big God moved this summer. I will never forget these lives that touched my heart. And I will also never forget how God moved in me this summer. Thank you for everyone who supported me this summer, YOU made this possible.

I am interested to know more about YFC Camps.  I am working for department of Sport,Arts and Culture, in South Africa, North West Province.  It is so great to hear that there are camps for youth that are in Christ.

God bless your wonderful work,
