We all like a little change of pace in the summer – BUT – frankly, I think we sometimes take it too far.  Sure there are kids who are gone, but there are kids who are home.  Sure there are kids who are busy, but there are kids who are bored.  Sure there are kids making bad decisions, but we can offer them good alternatives.  A more relaxed schedule offers the opportunity for more relaxed RMA’s!  This is doubly true for Student Leaders, who are already inclined toward some positive Campus Life influence and fun in their life.  Think about the possibilities…

1) Meet with just the outgoing Senior Student Leaders.  Make it a day long (or overnight) getaway to a lake if possible.  Make sure they get the “life-long follower” part of our mission and commit yourself to be there for them.  Make sure you have a Facebook connection for your alumni and post something weekly to give them the regular opportunity to engage with each other and you.

2) Meet with just the returning Student Leaders.  Make it a day long (or overnight) getaway to a lake if possible.  Make sure they get the “life-long follower” part of our mission and commit yourself to be there for them.  Make sure they see the challenge/opportunity of replacing the graduates and setting an example for incoming underclassmen.

3) Meet with incoming Student Leaders.  Make it a day long (or overnight) getaway to a lake if possible.  Make sure they get the “life-long follower” part of our mission and commit yourself to be there for them.  Go over your application that outlines expectations for them.

4) Meet with the new Student Leader team (returning and newbies).  Make it a day long (or overnight) getaway to a lake if you didn’t for number 2 and 3 above.  Get them fired up to make next year better than ever!  And have fun.

5) Now that you’ve wisely invested time in the key students in your ministry get away and pray for the year.  Make it a day long (or overnight) getaway to a lake if possible.  Make sure you get the “life-long follower” part of our mission and commit yourself to be there for everyone you promised that to in 1 – 4 above.  Fire up for your best year yet!
