“According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
Faithful people like Torrey Johnson, Billy Graham and so many others set a foundation “Anchored to the Rock, Geared to the Times” in Youth for Christ. This foundation is Jesus Christ. When Kathy and I established Deaf Teen Quest in 2000, without compromise, we built upon this same, solid foundation. This ministry is not “our” vision, it is His Vision and we have been so blessed to have been able to see and build so much of it.
There is still so much for us to do. Our task is not nearly complete. Twelve years ago this April was the first gathering of this outreach under the name, Deaf Teen Quest. Since that time, hundreds and hundreds of deaf and hard of hearing young people across the country and beyond, have experience the face of Jesus entering their lives through caring Christian adults, whom we call DTQ leaders.
God is so good! Jesus called to us “Come. Follow me.” This ministry is built, and will remain, on this foundation. “Fun, Friendship, Fellowship, Faith” all fall short if they are without the foundation of Jesus Christ. No other foundation will do. He is the One who has the words of life. He is the One who is the well of water that never ceases to flow. God became flesh and lived among us full of grace and truth. And all of this good work in Deaf Teen Quest is only made possible only through the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.
