Serving in Seychelles
Brian and Melissa Verdugo are the National Ministry Coordinators in charge of pioneering Youth for Christ in the Republic of Seychelles. They will be raising up and training national leaders to serve in Youth forChrist and in the body of Christ in youth ministry, evangelism, discipleship, outreaches, and sports ministry. They will be overseeing the pioneering of the following ministry models: after-school program, crisis counseling center, Bible classes in the University, prison ministry, and outreach to visitors in the country.
They served with Youth for Christ in George, South Africa for two years. In George, they helped oversee the crisis counseling center Options that serves 2,000 clients a year, and the street children drop-in center that serves 600 children monthly. They trained about 300 leaders throughout the country; some of them have gone on to start five new ministry sites based on ministry models they designed. Two hundred fifty-four people accepted Jesus as theirLord and Savior and about three hundred people were discipled. They helped pioneer the following ministries: a Sunday youth service for street children, four new teen parents support groups, two new discipleship groups, two new men’s ministry groups, Learn to Earn a ministry that empowers unemployed people; grief Counseling for Miscarriage, stillbirth, child death; accreditation for the Kidstop school, girl’s sport ministry, and an educational computer lab. Twenty South Africans that they helped train continue the ministry in George.
