Paul writes in Ephesians 3:20: “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Without a doubt that is the phrase I would choose to describe our week at camp! We took 10 students to the  YFC Camp that South Central YFC spends their whole summer planning. Of these 10 students, only one or two had a personal relationship with Christ before camp, and even these  students were not necessarily choosing to live their lives for God.

A lot of our students were coming out of difficult situations as we left for camp. Kacie, our intern, and I had spent so much of our summer praying for these students and their week at camp. Even before we had set foot out the door, God had already begun to do far more abundantly than all we could ask or think! It costs us over $300 per student for camp. Most of  these students struggled to pay or raise the $125 they were responsible to contribute. In two short months I have no idea how God provided all the money for us to go, but He did — every last penny. For those of you who chose to be a part of that ministry of giving, I cannot thank you enough. I rejoice in the Lord greatly and with tears for your generosity.

So much happens at camp as we take kids out of their comfort zones, their normal lives.  There are opportunities at camp to play and participate in all kinds of activities, hear someone share from God's Word, spend time in small cabin group discussions going deeper and spending time with students in many shared experiences.  Change happens at camp for everyone whether you are a student, adult leader or camp staff.  God works through camps in a special way and changes lives.  Over the next two posts we will share with you the impact of camp on the lives of these military students.
