Volunteer in Training Manual - Raising Indigenous Leaders from Urban Youth

By City Life National Leadership Team, Posted on 11/28/10

As City Life staff, we can sometimes fall short in our attempts to raise indigenous leaders from our ministry because we run out of time! When an urban teen turns 19 years-old, they are too old to continue in our program as a student, but they might be too young in their walk with their Lord to become a full-fledged volunteer with YFC. To help address this issues, the National City Life Leadership team is encouraging City Life programs across the country to develop Volunteer in Training (VIT) Leadership Programs. These programs allow us to remain relationally and spiritually engaged with the young adults who age out of our City Life programs. By creating a new category of leadership opportunities for young people, we can bridge the gap of indigenous leadership development, enabling us to raise life-long followers of Jesus Christ from within our communities!
