A New Heart

Three years ago, Brandon was an angry, troubled kid, locked in a juvenile detention center.

When the Youth For Christ leaders came into the facility to minister to the kids, Brandon wanted nothing to do with them. In fact, Brandon even threw chairs at cellmates who mentioned Christianity.

Enter Liz. Youth For Christ ministry leader. Devoted, determined, and desperately praying for kids like Brandon.

She prayed Ezekiel 36:26-28 over the kids at the detention center, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you...I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.”

After a year of persistant invitations to Brandon, something changed in his heart. He showed up to a Wednesday life skills class — a pleasant surprise to the YFC leaders and a huge answer to prayer! Brandon continued to regularly attend. He even opened up about growing up in a small town, enduring abuse as a child, and making decisions as a preteen. His confessions were met with love, compassion, and wise counsel.

Today, Brandon is settling into a new foster home, though he still struggles with anger and his troubled past. But God is transforming his heart through the steadfast efforts of Liz. Her efforts can mean an eternal difference for his soul!

Please pray Ezekiel 36 for lost and hurting kids in our country. YFC staff and volunteers are reaching them, in both rural and urban environments. Wherever these kids are, Youth For Christ leaders are committed to impact their lives for eternity. Thank you for being part of this gospel movement!
