Nations Coming Alongside Nations

Even if you knew the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe was a country, you might be hard pressed locating it on a map. Thankfully, our Youth for Christ friends in Brazil know where it is - and they've helped to start a new ministry there.

The Portuguese-speaking island nation in the Gulf of Guinea is off the western equatorial coast of Central Africa. In October of 2014, a ministry team from Brazil went to São Tomé to start ministry with Marcos Barbosa, a young national who was already reaching out to surfers in his country. The Lord poured out His blessing on this venture. Youth for Christ opened a student centre next to a high school with 6,500 students. A Bible Club started at this school, and a young woman, Claudia, came back with the team to Brazil for special training. Claudia returned to São Tomé and is using the training she received to lead the Bible Club ministry there. Fifty-five students participated in a leadership training to help reach their fellow students for Christ.

Numerous open doors have allowed Youth for Christ Brazil staff to freely give out God’s Word in public schools in various countries and to send missionaries to other nations.  Currently there are Brazilian missionaries preparing to go to Russia and East Timor.
