Dick started in YFC in a Junior High Club in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was privileged to attend the First Triennial Convocation in Jamaica in 1968. He served on staff in Ft. Wayne, Van Wert, Ohio, Battle Creek, Michigan and Grand Rapids, Michigan before joining the National Office staff in Wheaton in 1982. He was in charge of Personnel Services and Insurance. In 1990 he and his wife, Cheri, traveled to South Africa to live for nine months to assist Tedd Carr and the South African staff to organize Harvest Time ’91, which was patterned after the DC Conferences held by YFC/USA in 1985 and 1988. The Armstrongs returned to the states at the same time the National Office moved from Wheaton to Denver. They returned to visit in South Africa again in 2005. He also assisted the Taiwan Triennial Convocation in 1996 as the Hotel Liaison.
