"Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval." Luke 6:27.  We usually celebrate Thanksgiving with fancy and delicious foods and is usually a day of abundance. We eat a lot of foods and are satisfied, and usually beyond satisfaction. God has given us the pleasure of foods and we take advantage of that bounty especially on Thanksgiving day!

I am one of those people who love to eat and on certain holidays like Thanksgiving, I eat way too much and by the end of the day I have a belly full of food! Every year is the same thing all over again. I am already thinking about all of my favorite foods that is tradition in my family on Thanksgiving day!

What we should realize is that there is such a greater blessing to treasure - and that is the glory of God through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Men and women throughout history have sought to fill their aching hearts through the favor of God.

However, the sad part is many people seek to fill that internal void with false pleasures such as riches, relationships, beauty, power, and prestige. These things can give pleasure, but does not last forever. What is even more sad is that people continue to seek satisfaction in these worldly pleasures over and over again.

The truth is that the food that Jesus provides endures forever! We need to take a moment and really examine our hearts. Take a deeper look at what your heart really desires. That true internal desire is the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

As you go about your Thanksgiving tradition and celebrations, remember that the foods you eat will only satisfy you for a day or maybe a few days or a week at the most with leftovers - but it does not endure. It is the eternal gift in Jesus Christ that provides eternal gratitude.

So, enjoy your Thanksgiving by reminding yourself to really see the difference. Amen? God bless you and have a happy Thanksgiving! AMEN
